Bit about me and this site
Me, well I work in the Technology industry and am a keen cyclist and pilot.  In September 2012 I
completed a cycle trip from London to the Mediterranean - a total of just under 1,900km.  In
August 2013 I qualified for my private Pilot’s licence and can now fly single engine light aircraft.
My Father’s War experiences in the RAF
My father, who died in 2007, served in 6th Squadron RAF in the Western Desert during the
second world war.  His story and many photographs he took at the time can be found here

  Flying
I got my Private Pilot’s Licence (PPL) in August 2013 after learning with Cubair Flying school based
at Redhill airport.  During my training, I kept a blog of my experiences, link here
I have (deliberately) not updated it much since getting my licence as it was a training record after
all.  As I get aircraft conversions or if I get any further qualifications then I’ll add a bit more.
  Cycling
Over a period of three weeks, spread across three years, myself and a friend cycled from London
to the Mediterranean at Gruissan Plage just south of Narbonne.  We did the trip entirely “self
contained” carrying everything (including camping kit) ourselves on the bikes.  My lovely assistant
(aka Penny) did sterling work in keeping a blog of the journey - links below.
Trip 1, London to Angers (Loire Valley)
  Trip 2, Angers to Bordeaux
Trip 3, Bordeaux to Gruissan Plage (nr Narbonne)
I sometimes keep another blog about other cycling trips, details here.  I don’t blog all of them, just
  (hopefully) the more interesting one’s
Holiday House in the South of France
Quite a few years ago now, we bought a two bedroom house in easy walking distance of the
beaches and town of Banyuls Sur Mer on the French Mediterranean coast near the Spanish
  border. More details here.
